Leemans is director of the Otolaryngology Residency Program and the Advanced Fellowship Program in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at Amsterdam UMC and he has authored or coauthored more than 400 papers and book chapters on head and neck oncology. He also leads the successful Make Sense Awareness Campaign.

Leemans’ keynote will focus on placing the individual patient in the center of the treatment journey. In his keynote, he will outline the journey toward more personalized treatments for head and neck cancer, particularly in the current era of changing epidemiology and treatments. As a surgeon/scientist, he will highlight the importance of translational cancer research to improve treatment of current and future patients.
