Young Surgeons Awards Competition

Enter the FACE AHEAD 2026 Young Surgeon Awards Competition and showcase your craniomaxillofacial research on the global stage. Be one of the finalists selected to present your paper live on the main stage at FACE AHEAD 2026—a premier international summit for craniomaxillofacial (CMF) surgery.
The FACE AHEAD 2026 scientific committee invites CMF surgeons from around the world to submit original research for a chance to compete for the Young Surgeon Awards competition. Finalists will deliver a 10-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session in front of a global audience of leading CMF experts.
The top three presentations will receive the FACE AHEAD Young Surgeon Award — a unique opportunity to gain international recognition and advance your career in craniomaxillofacial surgery.

Criteria – who is eligible?
* Age limit: 40 by the time of FACE AHEAD.

Notes to abstract submitters

Notification of acceptance
Notifications of acceptance or rejection of the abstracts will be sent to the corresponding author (the presenter) of the abstract by June 15, 2026 at the latest.  The corresponding author receives all correspondence concerning the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing all other co-authors of the status of the abstract. In order to receive confirmation, please ensure that emails from abstractfaceahead@oic.it are not marked as spam by your email provider.

All abstract presenters will be asked to reconfirm their attendance after receiving the notification. If you don’t reconfirm your abstract presentation, register and pay the registration fee within the requested deadline, your abstract will be withdrawn. All abstract presenters will have to register with the Abstract presenter registration fee (AO member/Non-member). Student/Allied Health Professional or Trainee registration rate cannot be applied for Abstract presenters.

Presentations of abstracts
The submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the presenting author to present the abstract (if accepted) as an oral presentation at the session and time assigned by the FACE AHEAD Organizing Committee or as an e-poster displayed digitally in the congress venue.

Abstract submissions will only be accepted in English.
There are two ways to present your abstract
-Oral 
-E-poster (electronic poster)

Publication of abstracts
Accepted abstracts will be published in a CMTR supplement.

Abstract awards
The six best papers will compete during the FACE AHEAD 2026 Young Surgeon Awards Competition, which will include a ten-minute presentation of each paper on the main stage including a brief Q&A session. The authors of the three highest-scoring papers will receive the FACE AHEAD Young Surgeon Awards.
Three prizes – GoldSilver, and Bronze  will be awarded, each including an honorary certificate and monetary award. Winners will be announced on-site during the summit, and awards will be sent electronically to each recipient following the event.

 Abstract Submission Guidelines
 An author from each abstract is expected to attend the summit and represent their e-poster and present their oral presentation. Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by the indicated deadline will be scheduled for presentation. Please follow the instructions below, otherwise your abstract cannot be selected for review.
