We are proud to announce that FACE AHEAD 2020 will feature global superstar surgeon Eduardo Rodriguez as one of its headline acts, March 26–28 in Barcelona, Spain
New face. New Beginning
Saturday, March 28, 2020 | 16:00-16:30 | Main Hall
In his compelling keynote, the plastic surgeon famous for completing the most extensive and comprehensive full-face transplant in history will talk about how the experience gained in the treatment of complex congenital and acquired facial deformity has provided a unique platform for advancing the field of facial reconstruction. Rodriguez will inspire summit participants by illustrating how facial transplantation has become a clinical reality—and he won’t shy away from addressing the fact that immunotherapy remains one of the leading obstacles to its widespread acceptance.
In his talk, Rodriguez will share his philosophy of creating a comprehensive and multidisciplinary team to act as an avenue to restore human appearance and function for individuals with devastating composite facial disfigurement.
"I’ve always had an interest in finding solutions to difficult problems and this pursuit has led me to my current position. The ultimate goal is that those we mentor will be better than we are to provide faster, safer and more cost-efficient care than we do today."
Rodriguez leads NYU Langone’s vascular composite allotransplantation (VCA) program, which encompasses face and limb transplantation. The two face transplants performed at NYU Langone since the program was established in 2014 have been widely recognized for their superior outcomes.
